I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate turning 33.
This afternoon, we are leaving for an epic family vacation that we have been planning (and saving) for over the last 18 months. No joke, we started discussing this trip in May 2017. We’re going to LEGOLAND and Disney World!
We are pulling Zoey out of school a little early this afternoon so we can make it to the Atlanta vicinity in time for a birthday dinner. And yes, this means she is also getting to skip school tomorrow, which is her last day before fall break. While I’m not an advocate for pulling kids out of school for an extended time for vacations, 1.5 days isn’t so bad. No shame. And because we are SO EXCITED to start this adventure (and because it’s my birthday, so why not), we are splitting our drive down to Florida between tonight and tomorrow (instead of driving down all at once tomorrow), and will spend the weekend at Legoland. On Sunday, we head to Disney World!
This vacation is going to be amazing and my inner child is squealing with excitement. While we’ve been to Disney before, we’ve never stayed on property, and we’ve never been to Legoland. Here’s praying it doesn’t rain too much, although I know how Florida can be and there is rain in the forecast, but our last Disney trip was completely dry until the drive home, so it’s not totally impossible… but let’s be real, I have ponchos and umbrellas ready to go!
I can’t wait to share a recap of the trip when we get back, but until then, you can follow along on Instagram for daily updates! I plan to post pictures and utilize Instagram Stories, so if you love Disney and want to see what it’s like in October, I’ll hook you up. 🙂
You can also read how our last trip went here. The funny thing is that I fully expected to not return to Animal Kingdom, but then they had to go and open up the Avatar land, so I guess we’ll go check it out. 😉 I also expected to plan two days at Epcot, which we ended up not doing because of the new stuff at Animal Kingdom. We also don’t have park hoppers (again). We actually ended up following a lot of the same pattern as our last trip (except I was smarter about picking the Magic Kingdom day), which is funny, but when it isn’t broken, you don’t fix it. I’m hoping our Halloween party night is as wonderful as it was last time, and that we have a better Magic Kingdom experience for our full day there. It wasn’t bad before, but someone told me Wednesday is always the best day to go, and it turned out to be the craziest day of the week. I think the mistake we made was going on a day with extended hours (the park was open from 8 AM to midnight), so everyone and their mommas took advantage of the crazy long hours… it was just insane crowds compared to all of our other park days, which were on the moderate side. I am glad we didn’t plan it that way again, because this year Wednesday is set up the SAME. Extended park hours on Wednesday. Nope!
Please pray for safe travels for us. While I love a good road trip with tunes, movies, podcasts, and SNACKS to keep us occupied, I’m very paranoid on the road when my little girl is in my backseat. She is precious cargo. Our total drive down there will average roughly 12 hours, give or take.
See you guys on Instagram!
