- CD 3: E2 = 42; started 100 IU Follistim
- CD 7: E2 = 90; lining = 4mm; found 40mm cyst + 5 follicles (one perfect 18mm, the rest are long and skinny); started alternating 75 & 100 IU Follistim
- CD 11: E2 = 66; lining = 5mm; found that the 40mm cyst shrunk to 27mm (yay!), plus 4 of the 5 follicles from CD 7 were completely gone; turned up Follistim to 150 IU
- CD 14: E2 & ultrasound pending…
Yesterday, I had another E2 and follicle ultrasound and this is what we discovered:
My uterine lining came in at 5mm, so it had only grown by 1mm in 4 days. I wasn’t too shocked to see this. My main concern was the 40mm cyst – had it grown? I am so pleased to report that God answered my prayers and the cyst SHRUNK to 27mm. Instead of one big rupture, it must have a slow leak… I am so grateful. Thank you, God, for your mercy. I was a bit worried that the cyst was going to hurt! Overall it looked so much better and didn’t take up the screen like it did last Friday, so yay for that!
Last Friday, I also had 5 other follicles, most of which we knew had to of been empty because my E2 was so low. Well, those are all gone now. There was 1 left and it is an oval shape, so I’m not banking on it doing much of anything. I am expecting it to go away like the others. This does mean my beautiful 18mm follie is gone, too.
So what does this leave me with?
A 27mm cyst that is shrinking and several 10mm follicles ready for recruitment. I am THRILLED! You may be confused by my optimism… but honestly, this is such great news because it means those empty follicles are gone and no longer taking up real estate. Maybe something good can emerge now that there is some more space. This is just my thought anyway. God is good! I could be in more pain right now than I am. God is good! My ovaries could have looked worse yesterday. God is good!
My estrogen decreased from 90 to 66. This isn’t too shocking considering we knew that some of the follicles on my ovaries were empty based on my last E2 results, and now they’re gone. Plus, my lining had only grown by 1mm in 4 days so I knew the E2 wasn’t going to be that great. I am not concerned. Not at all.
So, what now?
We increased my Follistim dose to 150 IU and I will get checked again on Friday, CD 14. I have so much confidence right now. It may look like we are starting over, being that my E2 is back at baseline level and I don’t have any good follicles in the running (yet), but this is all good news. We get to keep going, we’re not having to cancel! We just had to clear out some of the bad guys to make room for the good ones.
I am fully confident that Friday will show good results after being on 150 IU for a few days. And I can’t wait to share the news with you!
