Baby, it’s cold outside!
Down in the south, some cold temperatures have moved in during the month of November. October was a perfect fall weather month – we truly had an actual “autumn” season this year instead of going straight from summer to winter. It was glorious! We had so many bonfires and spent a lot of time outside. But now that we’re halfway through November, things have changed. Some bitter cold is beating down on us now, and it brings me to my next bit of thankfulness…
Today, I am thankful for my house. It isn’t a perfect house – the kitchen is narrow and has very little counter space. The master bathroom is tiny and has poor ventilation, often resulting in mildew. Our basement has its fair share of spiders, although I have to say, they’re not poisonous and they’re the kinds that eat brown recluse, so as far as we’re concerned, they can stay down there. This house has its quirks and there is a lot more I’d like to do with it. But alas, it is ours. We’re quickly approaching our 6th year in this house. We’re not renting, we’re paying on a mortgage, and we can do with it as we please. It is ours. It is warm. We have heat to keep ourselves comfortable, a good sized living room with plenty of space for a nice Christmas tree, enough bedrooms for us to have a 2nd child without needing to move, a separate dining room instead of an eat-in kitchen, so we do have enough room for visitors to join us for dinner. It’s not perfect, but it’s ours. We have a roof over our heads when it’s cold outside.
