Hey guys! I am so very excited to share with you the blog for one of my best friends, Shontel. I’ve known Shontel for more years than I can remember, but it wasn’t until two years ago that we really became close. I think both of us were really seeking a close-to-home friend who could relate when it comes to infertility. You see, Shontel and her husband have been trying for a baby for five years. During that time, they suffered four miscarriages, the first of which was during the same time I was pregnant with Zoey. We were originally due only 1 day apart.
It wasn’t until late 2012/early 2013 and after three losses that they discovered that she has MTHFR. Since the diagnosis, she got pregnant a 4th time (positive pregnancy test at MY house – hilarious) and we were all so hopeful that this was finally it. She had a treatable diagnosis (or so we thought) and a good doctor, so what could go wrong? We were all on cloud 9 and filled with so much hope.
We were also all so heartbroken when the pregnancy resulted in her 4th child in heaven and no reason why. No answers. Devastated, to say the least.
Shontel has always felt called to adopt, but it wasn’t until this winter that the calling became extremely apparent. IT IS TIME.
Shontel is a woman who knows more about pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care and motherhood than most active moms I know. She’s a doula, a Christ-follower, and always encouraging and inspiring others to just be strong and have hope. She’s the real deal when it comes to birth information and was made for motherhood. This journey is something I am SO excited to follow and be a part of. Please join me in cheering her on as she and her husband, Andy, now face a journey unlike any other. Click on their lovely picture below to be taken to their blog and consider following this adventure!
You can read their very first post here: So it begins. Pray for them and encourage them along the way. Those of you who have adopted before or are currently pursuing adoption know this is something that isn’t just a replacement or solution to infertility, it’s a separate calling. They’ve felt this for a long time, and I think like most people, weren’t sure when the right time was to pursue it.
Now is the time!
Shonty, I love you, dear friend! I look forward to following this new journey to motherhood. You were made for this!
