It has been exactly one week since I started back on Metformin and I thought I would give a little update on how I’m handling it. My doctor only put me on 500mg instead of the 1,000 I was on five years ago. This has made a huge difference. I am tolerating it a lot better than before, although I have to admit that I cheat and take it before bed so I’m not awake for it to kick in. They are extended release though, so I know that typically helps, too. Thankfully, I only got an upset stomach a few times during the 2nd and 3rd days on it. Since then, it’s been smooth sailing.
I never want to eat. No seriously, never. I don’t have an appetite, nothing sounds good, everything just seems so blah. I’m also getting fuller on less. Part of this could be attributed to the fact that I’m back to eating more PCOS-friendly meals and my blood sugar is finally stable. I don’t feel like I need to eat all the time. I don’t want cheez-its or pasta or any of those starchy foods. I’m consuming less carbs overall and the ones I do take in are whole grains. I’m definitely consuming more lean protein and veggies again. I totally fell off that horse last year.
Aside from the lack of appetite, I am feeling pretty good. I hope I don’t have to increase the dose and that I can just rest comfortably in 500mg. For now, I’m happy with where this is going. Who knows, maybe it’ll help me recycle a few pounds… loose some before a baby sets up camp in my uterus. 😉
P.S. I finished my Clomid on Monday. Come on 150mg, show us what you’ve got…
